Some Hidden Gems from Dalannah's Diamonds

Cool photos of Dalannah through the years... and one pic of a very hot band!

MAMMA'S GOT THE BLUES

When I first started listening to the blues, I was instantly taken back to when the blues first started. To me, they were stories; stories of hard times, livin' and lovin' and everything in between.

After my first stroke when I couldn't speak and my left side was paralyzed, I started writing poems.  My first poem became the song “Mamma's Got The Blues".  I continued to write songs that are commentaries on my life, (Them Menz, Been Around Awhile, Still Alive and Well) and life in general (Loved By That Woman, Who's Foolin' Who, Just Don't Like The Deal). In my humble opinion, the blues gives us an opportunity to say how we feel; the heartbreak, the disappointment, the joy, the love and to comment on the many injustices we witness every day (What The Hell Is That, Somebody's Watchin' You, Look Ahead).

It has been a privilege to create music that has lifted audiences and perhaps given that moment of reprieve from the weariness that life can sometimes bring.

People often ask me why I sing the blues and all I have to say is that...

"The Blues Keep Knockin’ At My Door".

I keep wonderin' wonderin' why

When I think of you

I start to cry

There's a hole in me

that can't be filled

Blues keep knockin' at my door

What can I do

What can I say

Why did my life

End up this way

No matter what I say or do

Blues keep knockin' at my door

There's an emptiness

that can't be filled

Not by a man or a bitter pill

Oh I just don't know why

That ole devil blues

Stays by my side

Late in the evening

And early when I rise

blues is burnin' and I realize

No matter what I say or do

Blues keep knockin' at my door

 In peace,  Dalannah
